South Vermillion Community School

Scheduled and Snow eLearning days approved for SV

October 2 is a Scheduled eLearning Day
Posted on 09/16/2019

South Vermillion Schools will have a scheduled eLearning day on Wednesday, October 2. Students will not report to school, but staff will be in attendance. Teachers will be available throughout the day for office hours and will respond to phone calls and emails to assist students and parents. Each individual teacher's schedule will vary as they will also be in scheduled parent-teacher conferences, or reaching out to parents throughout the day.

Students should expect 20-30 minutes of instruction and assignments per subject, while elementary students will receive instruction and assignments for the same amount of time in math and language arts and their special for the day. Student instruction will be delivered via Canvas, South Vermillion’s learning management system, for all grades. Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will also bring home iPads for the eLearning days.

New this year. . .
All students will be counted "present in attendance" unless a parent contacts the school to report a student absent due to illness, a scheduled appointment, etc.

Students who do not have Internet access at home can go to any of our local businesses or the Clinton Public Library for wifi. Students K-12 should make every attempt to have all work completed upon returning to school Thursday, but if Internet access is a concern then work should be turned in as soon as possible upon returning to school.

If any student or parent has a question or needs technical support, the eLearning support number is (765)832-5330 or via email at Support will be available from 9am until 6pm. Specific questions regarding assignments should be directed to teachers, but if students experience any technical issues, they are encouraged to contact eLearning support.

South Vermillion Schools is implementing one scheduled eLearning day for the purpose of parent-teacher conferences, but to help better prepare staff, students, and parents for inclement weather eLearning days. By using eLearning days, our schools will be able to reduce the number of makeup days by allowing students to complete work from home.
