Two chess teams from South Vermillion Middle School have been active this Spring. Both
the 8th-grade and under team, as well as the 6th-grade team, competed in the Regional
Tournament held at Honey Creek Middle School in February. The 8th-grade and under
team finished with a 3rd-place trophy at the regionals, and both teams qualified to compete
in the Team State Finals held in Martinsville, Indiana. Members of the 8th grade and under team include Cayden Wineinger, Eli Shoopman, Ryder Griffin, Joseph Watts, Cole Smith, and Eliza Youhas. The sixth grade team members are Alex Pate, Grayson Williams, Ethan Kennedy, Owen Place, Wyatt Vandivier, and Henry Stateler. Great job SVMS!
